When you donate a car you help provide emergency food, shelter and supportive services for thousands of homeless families.
Our area is recovering from an economic tsunami. Many of us are only a few missed mortgage payments away from living on the street. Volunteers of America Chesapeake uses your car donation to help more than 9,000 people a year rebuild their lives after economic disaster. When you donate your car or truck you help Volunteers of America Chesapeake provide a warm bed and hot meal to men, women and their children in communities from Baltimore to Washington D.C. and Virginia City. We provide hot meals and warm beds to people left out in the cold by the rough economy. And that's just the beginning. We also provide homes and supportive services to individuals with intellectual disabilities or mental illnesses. We provide substance abuse treatment services to people recovering from addiction. Our network of emergency shelters, hypothermia shelters, drop-in shelters, cold-weather shelters, transitional housing programs and affordable permanent housing centers are second to none. When you donate your car you make these life-changing programs possible. An average of 88 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to programs that help people – a statistic unmatched by any other charity car donation program.
We do more than just feed people and give them a bed for the night - when you donate your car you help us provide our area's neediest citizens with the tools to rebuild their lives: counseling, health services, educational services, help fighting substance abuse, help finding housing and finding a job. One look at the hope your car donation provides and you'll be asking yourself "How can I donate my car to charity?"
Donate your car and help us provide a new life and new hope for people struggling with substance abuse.
Substance abuse and addiction are thieves that rob the best from our communities and deliver nothing but pain to addicts and the people who love them.
Volunteers of America Chesapeake is a leader in substance abuse treatment and prevention in Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. When you donate your car you help us offer the supportive services and residential treatment individuals fighting addiction and their families desperately need.
Our Residential Program Center offers three crucial services under one roof: non-medical detoxification, substance abuse recovery and homeless services for single adults. The 12-bed Detoxification Unit provides people fighting substance abuse with social model detoxification for up to 14 days. The Residential Program center also helps participants get their lives back on track with intensive post-detoxification treatment for up to three months and a 44-bed homeless shelter with hi-intensity case management, education, training and referral services.
Those are the kind of programs you support when you donate your car to Volunteers of America Chesapeake. If you have an unused vehicle sitting in your driveway, on behalf of our communities neediest people we ask you to donate your car to Volunteers of America Chesapeake. They'll thank you and as a bonus you'll get a nice deduction on your taxes. (See Taxes: Donate Car)
